About Nuvel

Dr. Cornel Barnard is a family physician in Vernon, BC, combining compassionate long-term care with aesthetic medicine.

Originally from South Africa (MBChB University of the Free State, 2004), Cornel moved to Canada in 2008. He trains UBC family medicine residents and assesses international medical graduates, while offering advanced injectables, skin rejuvenation, and body contouring through Nuvel Skin & Laser, his clinic in Vernon, after earlier roles with Skin Kamloops and Sanders Medical Vernon.

When he isn’t working, Cornel loves being outdoors — hiking the trails, skiing nearby, getting out on the lakes, running, or playing soccer with friends.

Carly received her Certified Laser Specialist designation in 2008 and has been a dedicated professional in medical aesthetics since then. With over 17 years of hands-on experience working with a wide range of advanced devices, she has collaborated closely with dermatologists and physician injectors, bringing a wealth of expertise to patient consultations. Her ability to design personalized treatment and skincare plans ensures every client receives the highest standard of care.

Carly is extensively trained in CoolSculpting, Fraxel Dual, photorejuvenation, Clear + Brilliant, Microneedling, skin tightening, Chemical peels and many other technologies. She is highly regarded for her technical skill, professionalism, and warm calming demeanor that puts patients at ease throughout their treatment journey.

Ainslie has over 35 years in the medical industry, including 16 years in aesthetics, bringing extensive knowledge and experience. As our Skin Care Specialist, she offers personalized regimes with attentive, cheerful care and serves as the Primary Physician’s Assistant for MD Codes. She is also skilled in CoolSculpting, Microneedling, Ultherapy, Thermage, HydraFacial, Fraxel, and Clear + Brilliant, ensuring patients feel valued and comfortable throughout treatments.

Brenda has extensive certifications across the medical field, including MOA, pharmacy, optometry, orthodontics, and laser technology. Her cross-training and experience as a business owner bring both skill and compassion to patient care, supported by strong administrative abilities. She values each patient’s unique journey and prioritizes their transformation and well-being.

Two years ago, Chantel made the Okanagan her permanent home after spending many childhood summers here. She brings both skill and heart to her work, with a diverse background in Aesthetics that includes therapeutic massage and spa treatments. Her experience also extends beyond aesthetics, having supported marginalized youth in the public education system and spent many years working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities.
