Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a procedure in which a small sample of the patient’s own blood is drawn, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets (which carry growth factors and proteins), and then the platelet-rich plasma is re-applied or injected into targeted tissues to harness the body’s natural healing and regenerative mechanisms.

When used on the face, PRP is applied for aesthetic and skin-rejuvenation purposes:

  • It can stimulate collagen and elastin production, improving skin firmness, elasticity and texture.
  • It’s used to reduce signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles, and to improve overall skin glow.
  • It may help improve skin tone, even out pigmentation, refine large pores and smooth rough texture.
  • It’s often combined with other treatments like microneedling, where small trauma is used to trigger repair and the PRP helps enhance the effect.

In short: PRP is a minimally invasive, autologous (your own blood) method to rejuvenate facial skin by boosting the body’s repair systems, rather than simply adding synthetic fillers or toxins.
